Chapter Philanthropy
Rho Iota has the great opportunity to be able to work with the Kentucky Children's Miracle Network Hospital, which is located right on campus!
Throughout the year, we contribute various types of support to our hospital recipient. Our sisters love going to visit the children at the Hospital to spread and show our love and support. When we aren't able to be at the hospital, we contribute bracelets, stuffed animals, and toys for the children. When we don't work with the children, we give our support to the parent's through video communication and personalized letters for their continuous bravery.
The two main philanthropy events that we host in support of the hospital are Cheesin' for the Children in the fall, and BonnaMu/Wifflemania in the spring. Our annual Cheesin’ for the Children event is hosted in the Fall at our chapter house, located at 462 Rose Lane. We open our house to the campus and allow them to purchase a $5 all-you-can-eat cheese-y food buffet!! Our Spring event, BonnaMu, allows for external participation, letting other chapters, organizations, and clubs create a band and make music for a crowd! Wifflemania is a large, Wiffle-Ball tournament that anyone on campus can make a team for!! Last year, we raised $14,000 from our Wifflemania event. We love supporting such an amazing philanthropy!

Our annual Miracle Gala is a Philanthropy event that members, families, and alumnae are able to come together to celebrate the years philanthropic endeavors, hear testimonials on how our chapter supports Kentucky Children's Hospital directly, and bid on silent auction baskets donated by local Lexington businesses. Last year alone, we were able to raise $8,415 from hosting our Miracle Gala!
Our annual gala provides the opportunity to host a final fundraiser of the academic year, and give our chapter the ability to give back to our community.
UK's largest fundraising event, Dance Blue, holds a special place in Phi Mu's heart, as it raises money for Kentucky Children's Hospitals. Sisters participate in this 24 hour dance marathon each year, and it's one of our favorite ways to help the campus support the hospitals that we as chapter work to raise money for throughout the year.
Every year, Rho Iota 'Adopts-A-Family' that has received care from Kentucky Children's Network Hospital. Our chapter hosts events that support our family, and have direct communication with them. Our Miracle Family is able to participate in DanceBlue, and cheer us on through the event. We are so incredibly lucky to work with our Miracle Family and can't wait to continue this relationship!
